ED STIELSTRA SCRATCHES AT CAMPBELL AIRSTRIP
Anchorage, Alaska - Saturday, March 2, 2013 – Veteran Iditarod musher Ed Stielstra (Bib# 41) of McMillian, Michigan scratched at Campbell Airstrip in Anchorage after the Ceremonial Start. Stielstra made the decision to scratch in late February after an accident while training his dog team, but still wanted to fulfill his Iditarod Ceremonial duties and waited to make his scratch official until after the Anchorage Ceremonial Start.
Stielstra has finished seven Iditarod’s, with three of those finishes being in the top 30.
The employee that selected Ed as their musher will get a "replacement." musher Apparently Ed had already scratched before the race started but I didn't know about it.
